Rick L. Taylor

A funeral service celebrating the life of Rick L. Taylor, age 68, of Newark, will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 5, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7, at Wilson Cemetery. Rick was born September 5, 1949 in Newark, Ohio to the late Richard and Sadie Taylor. He passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). Rick retired in 1999 as Fire Chief of the City of Heath Fire Department. He was the owner of PCS, a computer business. Rick enjoyed golfing and cooking and was known for his delicious pork tenderloin. He is survived by six children, Shannon Taylor of Newark, Jessica Parnell (Gage Campbell) of Columbus, Angel Poole (Joseph Dowling), Danielle Johnson (Shawn Watson) and Ramone Johnson, all of Newark, and Richard Taylor of Lodi, California; grandchildren, Xaiden Parnell, William Taylor Dowling, Bram Paul Dowling, Madalyn Watson, Kyran Watson and Austin and Ella Taylor; and Little Brother Bob Marshall of Newark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A. Marge (Hanby) Taylor, whom he married October 12, 1969 and who passed away on January 24, 2015.
