A graveside service, celebrating the life of Robert D. Acord, 85, of Heath, will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Jay Canaday officiating. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Robert was born in Bluefield, WV on March 20, 1033 to the late Ezra and Ada Acord. He passed away at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio, on January 22, 2019. Robert proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, he was a stone mason for many years. He was a member of Community Wesleyan Church in Newark. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and he played the mandolin and the fiddle. Robert was a great outdoorsman, also enjoying hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his children, Patricia (Jim) McCoy, Janet (Darryl) Pohlschneider and Rodney (Liz) Acord; son-in-law, Steve Salyers; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Acord in 2016; son, Robert R. Acord; and 12 siblings.
