Robert Benge

Robert (Bob) C. Benge of Pataskala, went to be with the Lord on Friday May 17, 2024. He was born April 15, 1936, in Madison County, Kentucky.

Preceded in death by his mother Etta (Powell) Benge and father Robert H. Benge.

Survived by his wife of 36 years Donna S. Benge; children Earl Benge, Susan (Randall) Scheer, Patty (Adam) Casto, Suzanne (Kevin) Young, Deanne Yantis (Jack Reber); grandchildren Greg Benge, Kevin Benge (Katie Ann Varga), Alyssa Scheer, Stephanie (Ethan) Hardesty, Britney (Kyle) Koenig, Kadin Young, Jeremy Yantis; great-grandchildren Madalyne and Brayden Benge, Callie and Mason Rollyson, Taytum, Carolyne, Gracelynn and Gregory Hardesty; Morgan Jones, Brooklyn and Maddilyn Koenig;

Brother Gene (Judy) Benge and many loved nieces and nephews; along with special friends Tom Fuller, Don Vrsan, Mike and Marian Skeen and Karla Groves.

Bob worked at Newark AFB and retired in 1988. He was never idle. He married Donna Ball and began building their home shortly thereafter.

He loved camping and spending time with his family. They were always wondering what new “wild or mystery” meat he would be cooking on his tripod next as they gathered around the fire.

An avid hunter, Bob and his family spent a lot of time at Tar Hollow State Park, Ohio Power and in later years hunted Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope and Bear in Wyoming, Montana and Canada. He continued hunting Turkey and Deer in Ohio.

Bob was an active member of Newark Moose Lodge, V.F.W., Newark Elks and Amvets.

He loved his family unconditionally and wanted the best for all of them. He could not have been more proud of them.

Honoring Bob’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. A celebration of his life will follow on Sunday June 30, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Newark Moose Lodge, 235 West National Drive, Newark, Ohio 43055.
