A visitation, celebrating the life of Robert C. “Walleye” Wallace, 80, of Newark, will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Walleye was born in Alliance, Ohio on November 12, 1943 to the late Charles and Helen (Haidet) Wallace. He passed away at his residence on March 6, 2024. Walleye was a standout athlete at Alliance High School, graduating in 1961. He was later inducted into the Alliance High School Hall of Fame. After graduation, he went on to play quarterback at the University of Iowa. Prior to retirement, he was a finance manager for Wally Armour Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep for many years. He was a member of the Barnesville Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Walleye especially enjoyed watching sports and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Karen J. (Turner) Wallace, whom he married April 18, 1992; sons, Robert J. “Bob” (Theresa Swanson) Wallace, Jon D. Wallace and Jeff A. (Krystal) Wallace; grandchildren, Andrew Wallace, Jacob Wallace, Caidan Wallace, Rylee (Gabby) Wallace and Tanyon Wallace; siblings, Susan K. (Nick) Sotcan, William L. (Debbie) Wallace and James J. Wallace; brothers-in-law, Travis Mirra and Bill Braniger; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jeanette and William Reed; sisters in-law and brothers-in-law, Vicki and Mark Allen, Linda and Gid Edwards, Alan and Robyn Turner; his beloved dog and companion, Molly B.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends at the Humidor. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sisters-in-law, Sharon Mirra and Kay Braniger.
