Robert Frederick Hickey

Funeral Mass for Robert F. Hickey, 73, of Kirkersville, will be held at 10:00 a.m.on Saturday, October 28, 2023, in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Buckeye Lake, with Rev. Fr. William Hritsko as celebrant. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral mass in the Chapel at Our Lady. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Pataskala.

Robert passed away Tuesday morning, October 24, 2023. He was born December 27, 1949, in Yeadon, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Frank and Elsie (Holder) Hickey. He was a graduate of Villanova University, served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Era; and has retired after many years of service to the United States Government.

His passion was for chess and other games. He enjoyed inventing and completing word puzzles, spending time with his family and was a rabid Ohio State Buckeye fan.

He is survived by his family: his wife Mary (Hainsworth) whom he married on October 12, 1980, his son John (Priya) and his daughter Ali (Theron) Short; along with his grandchildren Max, Arya, Victor, Arvin and Katie; his brother Joe (Carol) Hickey and sister Claire Hilbert; nephew Joseph and nieces Kathy Ann, Linda and Christine.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to the Scholarship fund at The Ohio State University. Envelopes will be available at the church.
