A graveside service, celebrating the life of Robert A. Hunziker, 94, of Kirkersville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, in the Kirkersville Cemetery with full military honors. Bob will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Louanna. Bob died peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2014, with his sons at his side. He was born August 6, 1919, in Columbus, the son of the late Albert and Maida Bell (Kearn) Hunziker. He was a graduate of Columbus South H.S., attended OSU for 2 years, prior to his enlistment in the US Army. Bob was a highly decorated veteran of WWII, having stormed the beach at Normandy. He was the recipient of 9 bronze star citations. He retired after working for Columbus and Southern Ohio Power for his entire career. He also raised beef cattle on his farm at Kirkersville. Preceded in death by his wife Louanna Jean Hunziker and sister Virginia Watkins. Survived by his brother Paul H., son Steve, foster son Matt Hinson and his 7 grandchildren. Bob participated in the Freedom Flight, visiting the WWII memorial in Washington D.C.
