A funeral service, celebrating the life of Robert I. Cooperrider, age 91, of Newark, formerly of Glenford, will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Katrick officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens, with military honors being observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the funeral service on Monday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., where a Masonic service will be held at 10:45 a.m.Robert was born in Glenford, Ohio on December 23, 1924 to the late Ivan and Rozella (Ice) Cooperrider. He passed away on February 23, 2016 at SharonBrooke Senior Living in Newark.Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Prior to retirement, he was a farmer his entire life. He was a member of the Newark Masonic Temple and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing bingo, cards, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.Survivors include his two daughters, Jan (Jack Martin) Hostasa and Jill Jones; grandchildren, Aaron Jones, Joshua (Michelle) Jones, Brad (Kim) Hostasa, Jon (Katie) Hostasa, Casey (Cory) Jones and Caleb Jones; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Jerry (Steinman) Cooperrider, who passed away in 2005; two grandchildren, Chad Jones and Gina Lucido; sisters, Genevieve Crist, Katherine Phillips and Mary Bottimer.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Robert to St. Johns United Church of Christ or Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Robert and his family.
