Robert J. Young

A memorial service rejoicing in the 74 years of Robert J. “Bob” Young, of Heath Ohio, will be held at 6PM on Thursday July 28, 2022 at the Hebron chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 108 N. 7th Street, Hebron, with Pastor Mitchell L. Griffin, III of Mt. Olive Church officiating. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance. Bob was born in Newark, Ohio on May 2, 1948 to the late Donald A. “Don” and Martha “Louise” (Matheny) Young. His last breath yielded up the spirit at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio, on the early morning of July 12, 2022. Prior to retirement, he was a service technician with Columbia Gas of Ohio for many years. After retirement, he worked as a dispatcher with the Granville Police Department. He enjoyed working with his hands fixing whatever needed fixing around the house, golfing, fishing and kayaking. Most important was the time he took to spend with his family, neighbors and friends: always offering the hands he so enjoyed working with to do good. He believed in the Lord and would pray for others, and his prayers would be answered. He had a sense of humor that was not waxed short even to the last of his days. So unto this day of rejoicing all his years, his presence will be sorely missed. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Carolyn A. (Rauch) Young; sons, Michael Gregory (Jaime) Young and Aaron Christopher (Thaah) Young; brother, Richard (Jeanne) Young; step grandchild, Sierra; grandchild Nicodemus Jarad Young; step grandchild, Maxwell Wagoner-Watts; step great grandchild, Leiland; nephew, Father David Young; nieces, Monica (Tom) Davis and Nicole (Tony) Galbraith; and many beloved cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Louise. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bob to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, Ohio 43055 as they indeed provided diligent and gracious care to him and Carolyn during the last of his days here on earth.
