A memorial service celebrating the life of Robert Lee Stewart, 94 of Newark, will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville Street, Newark, with Celebrant Andrew Hoover officiating. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance with burial being held in Cedar Hill Cemetery at a later date. Robert was born in New Boston, Ohio on October 17, 1928 to the late George and Augusta (Webb) Stewart. He passed away at his residence on May 13, 2023. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was the manager at the Center for New Beginnings and he also owned and operated his own auto mechanic business. He was a member of the Newark YMCA Silver Sneakers, enjoyed working on cars, listening to gospel music and loved reading the Bible. Survivors include his daughters, Linda Bahnsen and Cindy (Kevin) Ford; grandchildren, Christy Brown, Jennifer Ford, Amy Reyna and Terra Stiers; great grandchildren, Jimmy Bahnsen and Ashlie Bahnsen; and several nieces, nephews and friends. In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Stewart; and son-in-law, Stephen Bahnsen. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Robert to Hospice of Central Ohio.
