Roberta "Ann" Englefield

A funeral service celebrating the life of Roberta “Ann” Englefield, age 87, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Van Winkle officiating. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

A graveside service will take place later in the afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield.

Ann was born January 13, 1938 in Springfield, Ohio to the late C. Franklin Jervis and Roberta (Riley) Giffen. She passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Select Specialty Hospital in Newark.

Ann retired in 2000 as a Caseworker from Licking County Job and Family Services. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark, and also volunteered at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Ann enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and her beloved dog, Lily.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Englefield of New York City; son, Richard H. “Rick” (Jennifer) Englefield II of Newark; grandchildren, Rick, Jr. (Bailey) Englefield of Cleveland, Kayla (Siyoung Lee) Meador of Santa Barbara, California, and Alexandra (Matt) Fiske of Powell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Lynn Englefield; and grandparents, Dr. James H. and Ethel (Shai) Riley.
