Rodney C. (Sid) Wilson, eighty-five years old, passed away on February 21, 2023, in hospice care at Altercare, Thornville, Ohio. He was born August 17, 1937, in Roseville, Ohio to William A. & Miriam (Shrider) Wilson. Rodney graduated from Thornville High School and attended Ohio University. He resided in the Roseville and Woodsfield area, then returned to Thornville where he lived his majority of life until his death. Rodney was a hardworking man. His early work career consisted of being a Superintendent for Shelly & Sands Construction, an owner of a vault company and business partner with Gary Rubel in road construction. He became an independent proprietor of his own construction company, R.C. Wilson Inc., dedicating 40 years to building bridges for the State of Ohio. Rodney enjoyed having horses and cattle in his younger years. He was an avid reader, loved to golf, and enjoyed winters in Florida. He was known for his long talks and giving the “Wilson look” which has become a family trait. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Ann Blackstone Wilson of the home. Five children; Dr. Bradley (Lisa) Wilson, and Gregory (Betty) Wilson of Roseville Ohio, LeAnn (Chris) Hoaglin, of Carolina Shores NC, Diane (Andy) Cox of Zanesville Ohio and Elaine (Duane) Moore of Thornville Ohio. Grandchildren Jennifer (Jeff) Kosla, Westerville Ohio, Sky (Kelcey) Wilson, Roseville Ohio, Morgan (Sully) Shriver, Zanesville Ohio, Henry Meinstereifel, Painted Post New York, Grace Wilson, and Eleanor Wilson, both of Roseville, OH. Eight great grandchildren; Brody Merckle, Kaine Bocook, Clinton Wilson, Eva and Emily Kosla, Abraham, Rosemary, and Silas Shriver. Five step-children; Missy (Tim) Link, Granville, OH, Susan (Michael) McNeal, Fredericksburg, VA, Christy (Alan)Suder, Buckhannon, WV, Deandra Detwiler-Yavorsky, Willard, Wisconsin. Ten step-grandchildren and five step- great grandchildren. Siblings; William Wilson, Jr and Nancy (Herschel) Wilks and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Connison Wilson, sisters; Margaret (Joe) Miller and Roberta (Bud) Meredith, and step-son Michael Brown. Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 2-5pm at the Hoskinson Funeral Home-Thornville, 56 S. Main St., Thornville, where the funeral service will be Monday, February 27, 2023, at 11:00am.
