Roger Allen Lees

Funeral services celebrating the life of Roger Allen Lees, 71, of Hebron, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Jim Hall as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville.

Roger passed away suddenly on November 15, 2021. He was born in Newark, on April 22, 1950 the son of the late Kenneth M. and Ruth J. (Nickols) Lees. Roger was a graduate of Lakewood H.S. class of 1968, and was a lifelong farmer. He operated a dairy farm until the mid-1990’s and then switched to beef cattle.

Roger enjoyed farming and his memberships in Licking Co. Farm Bureau and Licking Co. Cattlemen’s Association. He also enjoyed eating out and was a regular at Bummie’s in Newark and at the Jack-town pub. Roger enjoyed the Hartford Fair, and also attending the National Tractor Pull in Louisville, Kentucky. He also helped out at the National Trails Country Store.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth M. and Ruth J. Lees, and his beloved wife Cathy Shomaker Lees who preceded him in death on March 12, 2021.

He is survived by his son David (Elyssa) Lees of Columbus, Brittany Bradford (Eddy Cupp) whom he treated like a daughter, Brittany’s children Rosalie Bradford and Avery Cupp; his brothers in law Jeff Shomaker, Tom (Connie) Shomaker, sister-in-law Judy (Bob) Swingle; his step mother Rozella Lees and his canine companion Sara.

Honoring Roger’s wishes, Roger will be cremated after the services and his ashes scattered on the farm. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Licking CO. Cattlemen's Association College Scholarship. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
