Roger Harry Lucas

Roger Harry Lucas, age 76, of Thornville, passed away on January 9, 2021 at Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville. Roger was born July 26, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Alaga Foster Lucas and the late Freda (Gross) Lucas Webber.

Roger was a veteran of the United States Navy and served from 1961-1965 and served aboard the U.S.S. Roosevelt. Roger enjoyed computers and was an amateur ham radio operator.

He is survived by four children, Shelly (Brian) Craft, Michelle Lucas Oden, James (Korey) Lucas and Cynthia (Gary) Ogle; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; mother of his children, Theresa Mehringer; former wife, Beth Ann Iler; sister, Kellie Webber of Texas City, Texas; nieces, Theresa Maurer and family and Melinda Babcock and family; former wife, Beth Ann Iler; and dear friends, Tammy and William Evans.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Lucas, who passed away in 2000.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark where military honors will be observed.
