Ronald Edward Alspach

A funeral service celebrating the life of Ronald Edward Alspach, age 89, of Thornville, will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 17, at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 56 South Main Street in Thornville.

Ron was born December 31, 1933 in Thornville, Ohio to the late Charles Calvin and Opal (Gorden) Alspach. He passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at his home.

Ron was a graduate of Thornville High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Shelly Company where he had been employed for 38 years as a mechanic. Ron was a member of the Thornville American Legion #342, the International Union of Operating Engineers, and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed watching his grandkids play ball, bowling, go-cart racing, and watching Westerns. An outdoorsman, Ron loved farming, hunting, and riding his Honda Gold Wing. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Retreads Group and they once rode all the way to Alaska on their motorcycles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Leah (Hunt) Alspach, whom he married September 26, 1957; daughter, Stephanie (Randy) Cremeans of Thornville; son, Charles Nicholas “Nick” Alspach (Rhonda Gray Todd) of Thornville; grandchildren, Drew Cremeans (fiancée Brittney Meadows), Tyler Cremeans (fiancée Donna Swinehart), Charles Nicholas (Taylor) Alspach II, Taylor Nicole Alspach, and Leah Morgan Alspach; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Alspach and Norah Alspach; sister-in-law, Marilyn Alspach of Thornville; and several nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Alspach; and a sister, Betty (Robert) Hurd.
