Ron was a graduate of Millersport H.S., class of 1968 where he played basketball and football and was a proud member of the 1965 team which was undefeated and never scored upon. He entered the Ohio National Guard after high school and served for 27 years. Ron was a member of the Thornport Post of the VFW, and Hebron Post of the American Legion. A longtime member of Harbor Hills Country Club. He loved OSU football and he and Sandy attended several bowl games. He was a loyal Cincinnati Bengals fan, and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Even though he was a” Millersport laker” for life, he also supported the Lakewood Lancers in all of his children and grandchildren’s sports and cheerleading activities. For 30 years he volunteered and was a proud member of the chain gang for all home Lakewood football games.
He is survived by his loving wife Sandy, with whom he recently celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary; Sons Rusty (Brandy), Ryan (Jacque) and grandchildren whom he adored: Connor, Cydney, Caitlyn, Reagan, Payton and Cooper; along with his sisters Susan (Kevin) Wolf And Sheri (Jeff) Moyer of Thornville, sisters-in-law Debbie (Dave) Bell, Connie Gray and Jane Harris.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Robert and Christopher, his in-laws Virgil and Ginny George (whom he loved as his second parents) and brother-in-law Charlie Gray.
Ron had a quick wit, great sense of humor, and loved to tell a good story. He was truly a kind hearted man, always thinking of others and never met a stranger.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, private family services have been scheduled, and following the pandemic, a celebration of Ron’s Life will be held for everyone.
