Ronald Nelson White, 70, of Thornville, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 following an extended illness at the Ohio State University Ross Heart Center in Columbus. He was born on October 27, 1943 in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late Ralph and Merrill (Harrold) White. Ron proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member and current Commander of the Thornville American Legion Post 342, as well as a member of the AMVETS Post 51 in Thornport. A huge Ohio State enthusiast, Ron served as an usher in the horseshoe stadium for his beloved Buckeyes for 21 years. He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, making maple syrup, but most of all spending time with his kids and grandkids who were the apples of his eye. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Diane, whom he married on June 20, 1993; son, Michael (Amy) White; step-children, Chris (Jill) Miller and Jenni (Jason) Wilson; grandchildren, Jayden and Aubrie White, and Hayden and Hunter Wilson; brother, Fred (Peggy) White; mother-in-law, Dorothy Barleycorn; brother-in-law, Michael (Linda) Barleycorn; little buddies, Laker and Buster; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a number of very very special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charles Barleycorn. A funeral service, celebrating Rons life, will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of the THORNVILLE home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S. Main St., with Pastor Doug Lynn officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Lutheran Reformed Cemetery.
