Funeral services, celebrating the life of Ronald S. Acord, 79, of Buckeye Lake, formerly of Jacksontown; will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Clifford Mason as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown. Ron passed away peacefully on March 24, 2018, following an extended illness. He was born December 10, 1938, in Frazeysburg, the son of the late Walter and Clara (McKee) Acord. He retired after thirty-six years as an Oiler at Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Newark. He was also an active member of the Licking Township community, serving as a volunteer fireman from 1972-1984, and then being elected to serve as a township trustee for thirty years. Ron loved camping, bowling, driving his Rhoads Car in local parades and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving family: Wife Sheila; daughters Kelly (Robert) Hayes, Cindy (Brad) Spung, both of Newark; son Ronnie (Michelle) Acord of Pataskala; step-sons Ray and Jay (Judy) Vanoster; daughter-in-law Patty Vanoster; grandchildren Tashia West and Ryan Wahl; brothers Emerson (Phyllis) Acord of Hanover, Wayne (Marty) Acord of St. Louisville; sisters Genevieve (Gail) Moran, Thelma (Forrest) Smythe, Nancy (Arlan) Zimmerman, all of Newark, Alma (Ralph) Wright of Hanover; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Ann in 2002, Step-son Rick Vanoster, his brothers Kenny and Alan and his sister Gyneth. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville, and again for one hour prior to the funeral services on Thursday.
