Ronald Clyde Smith

A funeral service celebrating the life Ronald Clyde Smith, age 89, of Johnstown, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, at Jersey Baptist Church, 13260 Morse Road SW, New Albany, Ohio with Pastor John Hays officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Alexandria.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Ron was born May 12, 1935 in New Concord, Ohio to the late Clyde and Violet (Blackstone) Smith. He passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Grant Medical Center.

After a rewarding career, Ron retired from Tectum, Inc. Having an industrious spirit, he was also self-employed as a painter where he applied his craftmanship and attention to detail.

A faithful member of Jersey Baptist Church, Ron was involved in his community and cherished his connections with fellow members of the church. He found joy in simple pleasures, such as collecting pocketknives and antique signs, and had a particular love for being outdoors, whether it was tending to his yard or tinkering around the house. His hands were never idle, and he was known for his willingness to lend a hand and help anyone in need. He was respected and loved by many for his selflessness and genuine kindness.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Beatrice (Keller) Smith, whom he married June 26, 1955; sons, Steven (Ivy) Smith of Newark and Michael (Maureen) Smith of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; five grandchildren, Shawn (Meredith) Smith, Erik Smith, Gracie Smith, Griffin Smith and Colin Smith; great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Smith and Thomas Smith; brother, Gary (Jamie) Smith; nieces and nephew, Kelly (Jeff) Cotrill, Marissa Smith, and Matthew (Amy) Smith; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and other extended family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
