A Homegoing Service for Rosa Mae Rosie Spivey, age 61, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington Street, Newark, with Rev. Dr. Michael A. Noble officiating. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens. Rosie was born June 18, 1952 in Sardis, Alabama to the late Robert Lee and Julia Bell (Anderson) Spivey. She passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Kindred of Newark. A 1971 graduate of Newark High School, Rosie retired from Licking Memorial Hospital where she had been employed in food service for 36 years. She was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Rosie enjoyed spending time with her family and following her nieces and nephews ball games and band activities, enjoyed reading romance novels and was an avid OSU and Cleveland Browns fan. She is survived by six brothers, Henry (Lillian) Spivey, Willie (Marian) Spivey and Kenneth (Ethel) Spivey, all of Newark, Russell (Dr. Michele) Spivey of Bowie, MD, Lester Spivey and Robert Spivey, both of Reynoldsburg; two sisters, Juanita Lewis of Newark and Janis (Rev. John) Benissan of Brownston, MI; Godson, Willie Spivey II of Newark; sisters-in-law, Zelinda Spivey and Kris Spivey; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Lewis; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; special friend, Keith Ford; and many friends at Licking Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Bill Spivey. Special thanks to Hospice of Central Ohio and Kindred Healthcare for the excellent care given to Rosie.
