A funeral service, celebrating the life of Rosalie Rosie Walters, 74, of Harbor Hills, will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 11:00 am in the chapel of The Kirkersville home of The Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will follow at Kirkersville Cemetery.Rosie passed unexpectedly, on Sunday, April 28, 2013 in Newark. She was born June 24, 1938 in Hebron, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred (Richards) Byrd. Rosie was a graduate of Hebron High School. She worked for many years as practice manager at her husbands medical office in Hebron.An active member of the Hebron community, she was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, and Eagon Chapter #123, Order of Eastern Star, Harbor Hills Womens Club. Rosie loved golf and music. She was an accomplished pianist and loved teaching and playing for family and friends. She worked tirelessly to volunteer her time and talents for many local charities and causes, including Licking Memorial Hospital TWIG and Ohio Osteopathic Auxillary. In her retirement, cooking and baking were favorite activities which will be missed by all who knew and loved her.She is survived by her loving family: husband Dr. Richard Walters, daughters Lori (Zach) Hatcher and Lisa Noble, step son Jeff Walters, step daughter Jill Cooper, grandchildren: Ashley, Caitie, Maddie, Travis, Tyler, Chloe, Letty, Rachel and Caitlin; sister Linda Howison, brother Art (Mona) Byrd; aunt Margaret Bickie Walters and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-daughter Bethany and her husband Tommy Hudgens, brother Richard Byrd and sister Virginia George.Friends may call on Thursday, May 2, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville, where an on-line video tribute and guest book are available at www.hoskinsonfuneral.com.Memorials may be directed to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058.HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, Kirkersville, are honored to care for the Walters family.
