Rose Mary Hutchins

Rose Mary (nee Bauer) Hutchins, age 79, of Thornville, formerly of Ripley, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio.

Rose Mary was born on November 29, 1943 in Ripley, Ohio to the late Leota Aileen Bauer (nee Miller) and the late Thomas Hall Bauer.

Her life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will take place in Pisgah Ridge Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio (Brown County) with a graveside service being observed at 2:30 p.m.

Friends and family may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, at the funeral home, 56 South Main Street in Thornville.

Rose Mary was a dedicated wife and mother. Her passions included watching the birds, reading, cross stitch, puzzles, tending to her garden, fairy garden and herbs, plus taking care of others.

She graduated from Ripley Union High School. Prior to being a mother, she worked at a local law office as a legal secretary and with the Farm and Home Administration (FHA) as an office assistant. She was also an avid member of the Licking County Herb Society.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Wesley Melvin Hutchins, whom she married October 9, 1971; son, Brandon Wesley Hutchins (Michelle); grandson, Jacob Wesley Hutchins; sisters, Linda Schadle (Dean), Peggy Reeser (George), and Tammy Tipper (Kyle); many nieces and nephews, including Michelle Taylor and Deana Schadle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospital, or Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
