A funeral service, celebrating the life of Roy Eli Miller, Sr., age 72, of Newark, will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Alive Vineyard Church, 7602 Stewart Road, Newark, with Pastor Steve Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.Roy was born in Newark, Ohio on June 29, 1943 to the late Roy Virgil and Lula (Holman) Miller. He passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on March 31, 2016.Prior to retirement, Roy was a Senior Engineer with Owens-Corning Fiberglas for 32 years. He had also worked for Stradleys Pure Oil Station for many years. He was a member of the Owens-Corning Retirees and Owens-Corning Campers Group. He enjoyed fishing, camping, antique cars, drag racing, tractor pulls and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Roy had an uplifting personality, a great sense of humor, and especially loved spending time with his wife, family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all that knew him.Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Judith E. (Priest) Miller, whom he married September 29, 1962; five children, Nancy (Layth) Sagman, Joy (Mike) Buchelt, Beth (Brent Sr.) Martin, Roy Butch (Ginger) Miller, Jr., and Virgil Skeeter (Samantha) Miller; sister, Dorinda A. (Bob) Smith; brother-in-law, Dave (Rita) Priest; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ruthie Miller; great granddaughter, Leilah Sagman; brother, John Kentral Miller; and sister, Wanda Blanchard.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Roy, to Ruthies Playground, c/o Alive Vineyard Church, 7602 Stewart Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.Family will receive friends at the Alive Vineyard Church on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Roy and his family.
