Roy "Gene" Eugene Searles

Roy Eugene “Gene” Searles, 53, of Pataskala, died Monday, October 10, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born February 2, 1969, in Point Pleasant, WV to Jerry and Wanda (Haning) Searles. Gene worked at HT Hackney as a Machine Operator for 20+ years. He enjoyed camping, hunting, exploration trips and FFA. He never turned down a trip to a flea market to find hats, matchbox cars, or pocketknives to add to his collections. He loved to spend time with his friends and family. One of his biggest joys was watching tv with his grandson Colton. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Christy. Children, Dustin Varney (Kayla Shute), Christopher Varney, and Taylor Searles (Brandon Chism). Grandchildren, Colton, Connor, and Hope Varney. His mother, Wanda Searles. Brother, Mark Searles (Rebecca Hicks). Brother-in-law, Rusty “Bubba” (Angie) Muncy. Also, several aunts and uncles, a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Searles; and brother, Jerry Searles Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice and/or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Visitation will be Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 2-3 pm at the Hoskinson Funeral Home in Kirkersville, where a memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM.
