Roy William "Bill" Smith, Jr.

A visitation for Roy William “Bill” Smith, Jr., 80, of Newark, will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Bill will be buried at Newark Memorial Gardens, with military honors observed by the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance. Bill was born in Follansbee, WV on August 3, 1943 to the late Roy William Smith Sr. and Virginia (Cawthon) Smith. He passed away at Chapel Grove on June 4, 2024. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he worked at Owens Corning for many years. He enjoyed traveling, could fix anything mechanical and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, where he worked as an usher at the OSU stadium. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Jeremy D. and Christina Smith and William D. and Heather Smith; grandchildren, Nathaniel Smith, Liam Smith, Lillian Smith, Hannah Hayes and Amanda Hayes; great grandson, Gregory; brother, Donald Smith; sister, Elaine Smith; nieces, Chauncey and Robin; and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Rick Smith. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bill to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter.
