Roy Stanton Stan Shaw, age 82, of Newark was born on February 9, 1934 in Akron, Ohio to the late Dr. Henry K. and Edrie (Stanton) Shaw. He passed away at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio, on June 15, 2016.Stan graduated from Elyria High School, Class of 1952. He attended Wilmington College and received his Bachelors degree from Baldwin Wallace College in 1958. He also enrolled in post graduate classes at Kent State, Ashland and OSU. Stan was a public accountant and was certified by the state of Ohio as a Certified Public Accountant.Stan was a public accountant for nearly 50 years and was also a school teacher at Danville High School and for over 25 years at Newark High School. He served as treasurer to many local organizations, SCORE, Licking County Apartment Association, Newark Kiwanis Club and AARP Tax Service. Stan was a life member of Newark Maennerchor and sang with them for over 20 years. Stan had a great sense of humor, enjoyed photography, reading and was a history buff.Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Stephanie (Lasch) Shaw, whom he married September 18, 1954; two sons, Samuel (John Centenaro) Shaw and Kenneth Aaron (Cindy Daugherty Shaw) Shaw; three, grandchildren, Serah Diane Shaw, George Casey Shaw and Joseph Aaron Shaw.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Edward King Shaw in 1995.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Stan to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058-0430 or to Newark Maennerchor, 195 Orchard Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.At Stans request, there will be no calling hours and a memorial service will be held at a later date.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Stan and the Shaw family.
