A funeral service celebrating the life of Roy A. Wickham, 76, of Newark, will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Ethan Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery, where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Roy was born in Newark, Ohio on March 27, 1947 to the late Roy Franklin and Bertha Lucille (Rogers) Wickham. He passed away in Columbus on March 24, 2024. Prior to retirement, Roy was the owner/operator of Wickham’s Carry Out for many decades. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed flying airplanes, where he held a pilot’s license, deer hunting, traveling the United States and visiting historical sites and was a collector and historian of Newark, Ohio memorabilia. Survivors include his sons, Roy James (Margaret “Shelly”) Wickham and Robert Allen Wickham; brother, Franklin (Mary) Wickham; sisters, Beverly Barr and Diana (Tom) Barnes; grandchildren, Thomas (Lyndsey) Wickham, Cody (Ryan) Wickham, Holly (Ethan) Allen, Brittany (Ronnie) Schumacher, Jonathan Lester and Grace Lester; great grandchildren, Emma, Owen, Willow and Bentley; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in memory of Roy, to the Licking County Historical Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
