Ruth Ann Mcmullens

A homegoing service celebrating the life of Ruth Ann McMullens, age 81, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, at the Trinity A.M.E. Church, 64 East Church Street, Newark, with Rev. Bruce Wynn officiating.Ruth was born August 22, 1933 in Newark, Ohio to the late Benjamin and Ruth (Green) Robertson. She passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Licking Memorial Hospital.Ruth retired from Newark City Schools where she had been employed in food services. She had also been an outreach worker for Planned Parenthood. She was a member of Trinity A.M.E. Church and enjoyed gardening.She is survived by two sons, Joseph (Rhonda) McMullens of Westerville and Charles McMullens of Newark; grandchildren, Chandler, Lauren, Leah and Kaitlen McMullens and Cheyenne Tucker; sister, Edna (Robert) Bayless of Canton, Georgia; special nieces, Jeri Good, Sheila Berry, Gloria (Ed) Henson, DArcy (Patrick) Nunn, Alaine Bayless, and nephew, Edward Bayless; as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. McMullens; and by two sisters, Mamie Robertson and Henrietta Good; and three brothers, Benjamin, Carl and Frankie Robertson.Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity A.M.E.
