Sanford C. "Sam" Skaggs

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Sanford C. Skaggs, 67, of Thornville, will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will follow on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., in Proctorville at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Sam was born in Roswell, New Mexico on July 18, 1948, the son of the late Jay C. and Pauline E (Bradley) Skaggs. He holds an Associates degree in applied engineering and worked as a skilled machinist for many years. In his free time, he loved to invent and building things, stock car racing, and spending time down home on the Ohio River. He also built his own airplane which he enjoyed flying. He is survived by his wife, Reta, whom he married on March 16, 1968, his three children Jay (Kelly) Skaggs, Tammy Skaggs (David Hamilton), and Tonya(Brian) Senter, his 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and his brothers Homer and Danny and his sisters Dorothy, Maxine, Patty and Brenda. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Vivian. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 until time of the funeral services at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville. The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 for their loving care of Sam Skaggs and his family.
