Sarah Jane Pence

    A funeral service celebrating the life of Sarah Jane Pence, 88, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Lloyd Markley officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, two hours prior to the funeral service on Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sarah was born in Stovertown, Ohio on December 4, 1930 to the late Everett and Clara (Harper) Hardin.  She passed away at her residence while surrounded by her loving family on February 5, 2019, with Pastor Lloyd Markley officiating. Sarah was an avid bowler, bowling in many leagues and winning many awards over the years.  She had a loving and ornery personality, and loved everyone she met.  Most important in her life was the time she spent with her loving family and friends.  She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Ann McDonald; grandchildren, Melissa Ann (Ricky) Rine and Carl Wayne Grimes, Jr.; great grandchildren, Samantha Marie Grimes, Chad Grimes, C.J. Grimes and Michael Hiett; great great grandchildren, baby Dre Hampton and Renea’ Hiett; brother, Hanley Hardin; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
