Sheela Kay O'Donnell

A graveside service celebrating the life of Sheela Kay O’Donnell, age 71, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 30, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Newark with Clifford Mason as Celebrant.

Sheela was born July 22, 1948 in Newark, Ohio to the late Russell Dale and Betty Jean (Allen) Dodson. She passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Sheela retired from Newark City Schools where she had been a secretary, room monitor, and aide. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Newark Eagles. Sheela enjoyed fishing and boating. She loved sunflowers and Autumn, when the leaves were at their peak.

She is survived by a son, Larry (Jeanne) Bailey, Jr. of Newark; daughter, Frances Bailey of Newark; step-son, Daniel Joseph O’Donnell, Jr. (Laurie Haas) of Las Vegas, Nevada; step-daughter, Tyra O’Donnell of Marion; grandchildren, Kyle, LeAnn, Tomya, Ashley, and Gracie; great-grandchildren, Carla, Hazel, and Raelyn; brothers, Roger (Bev) Dodson of Newark, Davy Dodson of Georgia, and Russell (Saundra) Dodson of Hanover; sisters, Julia (Paul) Queysen of Florida, Alice Sue (Ray) Vincent of Newark, Darena (Richard) Coleman of Newark and Sharon Hankins of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Joseph O’Donnell, Sr. on October 16, 2013; a son, Russell Eugene Bailey on May 31, 2016; and by a great-grandson, Dillon Robert Keeton, on September 12, 2018.
