A funeral service celebrating the life of Shirley Anne Holbert, of Newark, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Swartz officiating. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 18, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Shirley was born February 23, 1939 in Newark, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Alice (Baker) Goodin. She passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Licking Memorial Hospital.Shirley was employed by Merry Maids for seventeen years as an assistant office manager. She had also been formerly employed by Northtowne Athletic Club and LPN Healthcare. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. An avid gardener, Shirley grew many beautiful flowers and also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and family, which were the pride of her life.She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Larry Holbert; daughters, Deborah (Roy) Miller of Evans, West Virginia and Sherri Hersman of Newark; step-daughter, Shannon Holbert of Woodbridge, Illinois; grandchildren, Misty Wright (Doug Ansley) of Howard, Dakota Hersman of Newark, April Mahan, Amber Kozlowski, Joshua Mitchell and Rachel Mitchell, all of Colorado; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Bently, Allie, Maddie, Jacob and Liam; father-in-law, Woodrow Holbert of Newark.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Wright; a daughter, Denise Guillot; and brothers, Donald and John Goodin.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Shirley and her family.
