A funeral service celebrating the life of Shirley I. Queen, age 88, of Newark, will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Russell Smith and Pastor Brian Harkness officiating. Burial will follow at Hanover Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Shirley was born in Canton, Ohio on January 13, 1929 to the late Raymond and Cleta (Tewanger) Lutz. She passed at the Chestnut House in Newark on November 24, 2017. Shirley was a devoted homemaker to her loving family. She enjoyed crafting, reading, bowling, gardening and putting puzzles together. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah K. (Charles R.) Whitefield and Vickie L. (Victor T.) Cunningham; grandchildren, Tracy W. (John) Douglas, Tammy W. (Russell) Smith, Steven W. (Heather) McKenna, Katherene D. Kloss, Sean T. Cunningham and Tausha L. Queen-Cunningham; brother, Raymond (Beverly) Lutz; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Queen in 2009; and one grandson, Richard Whitefield. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Shirley to the Licking County Humane Society or to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio.
