Shirley Jean Stokes

A memorial service celebrating the life of Shirley Jean Stokes, age 74, of Heath, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Vern Smith officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Shirley was born November 30, 1940 in Philippi, West Virginia to the late Arly E. and Marie (Cosner) Willett. She passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Licking Memorial Hospital.Shirley was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking and Bingo. She was a member of the Heath Eagles, Life Again Club and the Buckeye Lake Seniors.She is survived by two children, Tim (Vickie) Stokes of Newark and Robert J. Stokes, Jr. of Hanover; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger Willett, Eddie (Annette) Willett and James (Carol) Haddix of Butler, PA; and nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph Stokes, Sr. on October 11, 2010; and by a daughter, Pamela M. Ballard on May 16, 2015.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Shirley and her family.
