Shirley Minkos

Shirley Lee Minkos, 77, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Kindred Healthcare Center after a courageous battle against COPD. She was born in Reading, Ohio on August 7, 1935, to the late John and Fannie May Downey. Shirley graduated from Celina High School and studied nursing at Miami Valley Hospital. In later years, she went on to create cakes for special occasions and spent her time delivering newspapers for the Newark Advocate for 23 years. Shirley is survived by her children: Linda Hill, Rick Hill, John (Robbin) Hill, Lora (Donald) Waller, Bobby Minkos, Vicky (Dennis) Pairan, Harley (Kim) Minkos, Tim (Connie) Minkos and Pam Minkos; grandchildren Marcus (Stephanie), Jeffrey, Ronald, Kayla, Kristie, Kyle, Matt, Ashley, Brandy, Nicole, Nicholas, Colin, Cassandra and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her beloved dogs: Barney, Pepper, and Sugar, her step-son Roger, sisters Betty and Wanda, half-sisters Emma and Betty, and half-brothers Edward and William. A funeral service, celebrating Shirleys life, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Thornville home of Hoskinson-Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S, Main St., with Pastor Doug Lynn officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Reformed Cemetery.
