Shirley M. Overbey

A memorial service celebrating the life of Shirley M. Overbey, 86 of Newark, will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at Christian Apostolic Church, 22 N. 23rd Street, Newark, with Pastor Keith Sjostrand officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the memorial service, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Shirley was born in Steele, MO on January 21, 1937 to the late Charles Grady Grissom and Bethel May (Long) Grissom. She passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on May 16, 2022. Shirley was a member of Christian Apostolic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, cooking and canning vegetables, but most important was the time she spent with her loving family and friends. Survivors include her daughters, Denise (Joe) Giles, Doronda (Don Parsons) Foreman and Cheryl Overbey; grandchildren, Jeremy Overbey, Ashlee (Justin Heisler) Holman, Katie (Michael) Waltz and Eric Giles; great grandchildren, Christopher Riley Overbey, Madisyn Sheppard, Jathan Holman and Kyzic Overbey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Overbey; grandson, Christopher Ray Overbey; brothers, Joe Grissom and Glen Grissom.
