A funeral service celebrating the life of Stephen Frederick “Steve” Heffelfinger, age 68, of Heath, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Dr. James Heffelfinger, Steve’s brother, officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
Steve was born March 28, 1954 in Waco, Texas to the late Earl Herbert and Nancy Ann (Ray) Heffelfinger. He passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Mount Carmel East Hospital from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.
Steve was a commercial truck driver with H.A. Hill Trucking. He attended Jersey Baptist Church. Steve enjoyed trains and tinkering with things. He loved his job and had been a trucker for over 50 years, traveling to all 48 states and Canada during his career. Steve always had a good attitude and will be remembered for always finding a little humor or a joke in any situation.
He is survived by his daughters, Kristie A. Campbell of Newark, Michelle Yates of Newark, and Peggy (Lawrence) Williams of Gilbertown, Alabama; son, Will Robinson Gleckler of Newark; brother, James (Debra) Heffelfinger of Columbus; sister, Melinda (Dewane) Fain of Macon, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Louise (Robinson) Heffelfinger.
