Stephen Phillip Smith

A graveside service celebrating the life of Stephen Phillip Smith, age 71, of Newark, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 7, at Wilson Cemetery with Pastor Neal Skiles officiating.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Stephen was born June 22, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert J. and Doris Ruth Smith. He passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at his home.

Steve had been a painter with his father for many years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, attending Pow-wows, the State Fair and other area festivals, and visiting Amish Country.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon Rose (Stewart) Smith; sisters, Pat (Bill) Wilson of Texas, Carol (Jim) O’Dell of Blacklick and Kandace (Floyd) Upperman of Amanda; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Brent Smith; and his beloved Dachshund, Mr. Bo Jangles.
