Steven Ray Carlson

Steven Ray Carlson, 72, Born November 1949 and died August of 2022. Steve was good at setting goals, had an easy smile, and a good sense of humor. He was in Boy Scouts made Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. He joined the Navy on an early enlistment program prior to graduating from Newark High School class of 1968. After eight years of full-time enlistment, he joined the Navy Reserves finishing as a CPO with a total of 28 years of service and earned a Navy Accommodation Medal. He graduated from OSU with a B.S. in Business Administration and then worked for the State of Ohio for over 20 years. He liked hiking, camping, fishing, dancing, and golf. Steve passed from this life with a smile on his face. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Mary Carlson. He is survived by his brother, Jim Carlson; sister, Betty Effinger; and nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Genealogy Society, 101 W. Main St. 2nd floor, Newark, OH 43055. Visitation will be Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 1-3 PM at the Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville St., Newark.
