Steven J. Dewey

A visitation celebrating the life of Steven J. Dewey, 52, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Private graveside services will be held at Green Hill Cemetery, in Johnstown, for the family. Steven, also known as “Dewey”, was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 27, 1968 to Regina (Moore) McDaniel, who survives. He passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on February 12, 2021. Dewey enjoyed listening to music and singing Karaoke. He had an uplifting personality, loved everyone he met and would help anyone in need. He was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by everyone that knew him. Survivors include his loving wife, Rebecca J. (Dowell) Dewey, whom he married May 26, 2012; children, Regina Nicole Fowler, Amanda Grace Dewey, Christopher Dewey, Justin Jones, Bryan Jones and Ethan Keaton; mother and step-father, Regina and Mike “Pappy” McDaniel; sister, Lisa Dewey; life brother, Chad Moore; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Khathryn Dowell. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made in memory of Dewey to Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, to help the family with funeral expenses.
