January 20, 1971 — April 15, 2024

January 20, 1971 to April 15, 2024

Steven Paul Elkins passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2024 after a 6-month battle with lung cancer.  He was born in Long Beach, CA to William A. Elkins and Carol J. (Link) Elkins.  He grew up in Orange County, CA and relocated to Columbus, OH in 1997 to be close to his father & brother.  Steve began working at the Kroger Company and was very proud of his 27-year career with them.  He remained a dedicated employee there until his passing. Steve was an animal lover and a passionate gardener in his spare time, as well as an avid Columbus Blue Jackets and Ohio State Buckeye fan.  Steve and his late mother, Carol, were both Tampa Bay Rays fans and when her health was declining, he would frequently call her during games to make sure she did not forget to watch and to keep her updated on her favorite players.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  Steven is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Eric & Lisa Elkins and nephew, Dominic Elkins, all of Tampa, FL, life-long family friend, Chris Coutant of CO, his aunts Margaret Granger of PA, Diane Arnold of CA, and Judy Link of OR, and numerous cousins.

There will be no public visitation and a private family memorial service will be held.  Honoring Steven's wishes, he was cremated and his cremated remains were inurned with his father in Concord Cemetery, Grove City, Ohio.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Steve’s name to his nephew Dominic’s school, Livingstone Academy Exceptional Center for Autism, 405 Beverly Blvd, Brandon, Florida 33511.
