Sue Ann Kneller

December 20, 1929 — August 8, 2021

Sue Ann Holtsberry Kneller, 91, of Hebron, died August 8, 2021 in Newark following an extended illness. She was born December 20, 1929 in Newark to Lawrence and Lou (Turner) Holtsberry. She lived her life in Hebron, graduating from Hebron High School in 1947. Her teenage years were spent at Buckeye Lake, working in the Yontz Frozen Custard stand and dancing at the Pier and Crystal Ballrooms on the weekends. She loved to dance and in her later years she learned to Line and Tap dance at Zerger Hall.

Sue worked for the Arcodel and Lake Shore Systems bus companies after graduation from Hebron High School. She married Karl Kneller on May 20, 1951 and they owned and operated a TV and radio business in Hebron.  She worked as the Clerk-Treasurer for the Village of Hebron for thirty-three years. She was associated for several years with Hometown Deli and Creative Catering of Hebron.

Karl and Sue had two sons and an adopted daughter of whom she is very proud. Mark and wife Cindy, Paul and wife Roberta of Hebron, daughter Wendy Ashton of Milan, IN. The joy of her life were her grandchildren: Jason P., Kyle, Ashley and Karley Kneller of Hebron, Jesse and Jay of Milan, IN. Her best friend and brother David Holtsberry of Hebron, also survives.

She was a fan of Lakewood Schools, both sons and Wendy and all her grandchildren graduated from Lakewood H.S., where they participated in all sports.

Sue was a member of the Hebron New Life United Methodist Church and was a member of the Choir, was Superintendent of the Primary department and a member of the Wesleyan Circle.  She also worked in the kitchen of the church serving community dinners.

She was a 60 year member of Wroena Chapter #597, Order of Eastern Star.

She loved to travel by planes, trains and ships and loved vacationing at the ocean.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Karl who died on January 7, 1991.

Sue’s family will receive friends on Wednesday morning, August 11, 2021 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am, Hebron New Life United Methodist Church, where funeral services celebrating her life will follow at 11:00 a.m. with her pastor Brian Harkness as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Kirkersville Cemetery.
