Sue Ellen Wendell

Sue Ellen (Sheets) Wendell, 81, passed away on June 7, 2021 in Athens, Ohio. She was born March 11, 1940, in Bluefield, Virginia; the daughter of the late Lacey F. and Hortense (Hayes) Sheets.

She had retired after working as a market researcher. She enjoyed socializing with others, cross word puzzles, cooking, and spending time with her family. She also loved listening to classic rock and spending time at the beach.

She is survived by her family: daughter Natalie Brown, sons Donald Ruby and Quentin VanCleef; grandchildren Bryan Sierra, Chase and Holden Ruby, Dustin English, Emily and Nick Baylander, Chelsea and Ashleigh Brown; and Celestial VanCleef; her brothers Ronnie and Douglas Sheets; sister Shirley Tackett, and many nieces and nephews, including her special niece Tina Stephens who helped care for Sue.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Kenny and Jay Sheets, and her grandson Michael.

Honoring her wishes, private family services will be held and she will be inurned with her parents in the Kirkersville Cemetery. A public celebration of her life will follow at a later date in Columbus.
