Sylvia Jean Thogmartin

Funeral services, celebrating the life of Sylvia Jean “Honey” Thogmartin, 88, of Millersport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018, at Millersport Covenant Church, 11544 Summerland Beach Road, Millersport, Ohio, with Pastor Steve Bush as celebrant. Burial will follow in Millersport Cemetery. Surrounded by her family, Sylvia was called to her Savior’s loving arms on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, in Lancaster, following an extended illness. She was born in Ravenna, Ohio, on January 14, 1930, the daughter of the late Christopher S. and Nellie (Dutter) Spade. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Sylvia enjoyed cooking, sewing, movies, and watching the numerous birds that flocked to the feeder and flowers in the front yard. Graduating Summa Cum Laude from Kent State, Sylvia was a voracious reader. She was president of what was, at the time, the largest and most active Republican Womens’ Club in Ohio. She was the accountant and business manager of the medical laboratory she and Keith operated for over 40 years. Always ready to serve, Sylvia volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and for many organizations including the Boy and Girl Scouts and the Walnut Township Local School District PTO. Sylvia is survived by her loving family: husband Meritt “Keith” Thogmartin of Millersport; children Merritt “Keith” and his wife Susan, Mark B. and his wife Donna, daughter De Anna and her husband Jeff Spencer; her brother Jimmy and his wife Lil Spade; grandchildren Amanda (Dan), Anthony, Andrea, Ryan (Khali), Jeffrey, Philip (Sarah), Sylvia (Matt), Sam, and Kellam; and great grandchildren Penny, Reagan, Kihryn, and Kwynce; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 2, 2018, from 3-6 p.m. at the Millersport Covenant Church.
