Terry A. Brown

A funeral service celebrating the life of Terry A. Brown, age 73, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Rev. James E. Workman, Jr., pastor at Wings of Hope Tabernacle.

Friends may call from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Terry was born October 13, 1950 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Licking Memorial Hospital. A 1969 graduate of Newark High School, Terry faithfully service his country from May 11, 1970-January 19, 1972 in the United States Army during Vietnam, serving mostly in Germany. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and was an M14 expert. Terry retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas where he had been employed for 40 years. He was a member of the Wings of Hope Tabernacle in Zanesville where he sang in the choir and served as an usher. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #85 in Newark and the Licking County Coon Hunters. At a young age he fell in love with fishing, hunting, and trapping and knew a lot about the outdoors and wildlife. He was a great athlete and loved basketball. Terry and his brother, Rocky, played basketball on Owens Corning teams.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Jewel “Debee” (Workman) Brown; daughter, Dawn Renee Brown of Heath; mother, Annette L. (Kaltenbach) Brown of Newark; siblings, Linda Walker of Newark, Pamela (Tom) Kreider of Nashport, Cynthia Hollis of Newark, Rockford “Rocky” (Deena) Brown of Frazeysburg, Anita (Dusty) Clemings of Hanover, Thomas J. Brown of Newark, Qwana (Tom) Pastorius of Peebles; many nieces and nephews; and his “Granddog”, Sassy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest James Brown; infant sister, Ginger Elaine Brown; infant brother, Johnny Mack Brown; brother-in-law, Terry Walker; and his beloved dogs, Sasha and Niko.
