A funeral service celebrating the life of Thelma Mae Arthur, 95, of Newark, will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Anthony Bartlette officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens. Thelma was born in Southshore, Kentucky on June 8, 1922 to the late Willard Will and Maggie Evelyn (Robinson) Carr. She passed away on June 6, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. Prior to retirement, she worked for Newark City School Systems for over 10 years. She was a member of the Church of God of Licking County. She enjoyed ceramics and flower gardening. Most important in her life was the time she spent with her loving family and friends. Survivors include her children, Frances Johnson, Donna Sue Bunting, Deborah (Daniel) Crum, Ray Steven (Jody) Arthur and Mark E. (Leslee) Arthur; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Arthur; daughter, Linda Karen Arthur; siblings, Dennis Carr, Ida Plummer, Lizzie Adkins, Mable Charles, Betty Campbell and Ralph Carr; sons-in-law, David Johnson and John J. Garber. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Thelma to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058-0430. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Thelma and the Arthur family.
