A memorial service celebrating the life of Thomas Alvin Stevens, 76, of Newark, will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Kirkpatrick officiating. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thomas was born in Newark, Ohio on January 3, 1948 to the late Thomas Henry Stevens and Phyllis (Wolfe) Liggett. He passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on July 29, 2024. Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement was a firefighter and fire chief at the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and also served as fire chief at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida and England Air Force Base in Louisiana. After retirement, he enjoyed driving school bus for Licking Valley Schools. He also enjoyed his Corvettes, motorcycling, deer hunting, camping and traveling. Most importantly was the time he spent with his best friend and wife, Tina. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. Survivors include his loving wife, Tina L. (Brumage) Stevens, whom he married April 2, 2015; children, Todd (Lisa) Stevens, Ted (Judy) Stevens, Ashley Fowler and Morgan (Bill) Evans; brother, Dave (Julie) Liggett; sisters, Joyce Stevens, Kathy (Dave) Stevens Yantes, Terry (Tom Hummel) Allen and Jodi (Delano) Clark; grandchildren, Karlie, Thomas, Caleb, Zachary, Caleb, Drew, Madison, Parker and Brayden; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
