Thomas E. Rice

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Thomas E. Rice, 66, of Newark, will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Orrey McFarland as celebrant. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster.Tom died early Thursday evening, April 13, 2017, at his home following an extended illness. He was born in Columbus, on June 10, 1950, the son of the late Charles E. and Lillian M (Glaze) Rice. He attended Fairfield Union High School, and was retired from Universal Veneer in Newark, where he worked for over 20 years.He was a long-time social member of the Buckeye Lake V.F.W. 1388, Buckeye Lake Eagles #2081, and Buckeye Lake Moose. He loved auto racing, and all things Earnhardt.He is survived by his loving family: Significant other Rose Shaver, sons Chad (Becky) Rice and their children Justin and April Miller of Millersport, Travis (Dawn) Rice, and their children Derrek Boykin of Dunellon Fl., Ariel and Nicole Nichols of Colfax, daughters Michelle (Jason) Faught and their son Tristan of Baltimore; Tonya (Whitey) Nobles and their children Trinity and Noah; his brother Pat (Lisa) Ryan, cousin Sharon (John) VanAtta who was like his sister; and his aunt Wilma Ruff.The family will receive friends on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, 56 S Main St. in Thornville.HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, Thornville, is honored to care for Tom and the Rice Family.
