Thomas "Tom" Lee Rector

Thomas Lee “Tom” Rector, 74, of Pataskala, left us Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the OSU Wexner Center, He was born July 17, 1947, to Louis H. and Mary L. (Beckmann) Rector in Newark, OH. Tom graduated from Licking Valley High School class of 1965 where he was a member of the 1965 basketball team that went on to win the Licking County Championship. After high school, Tom attended R.E.T.S. Electronic Schools in Detroit, MI in 1966 and spent a quarter at OSU Newark in 1967. He then entered apprenticeship for the IBEW, getting his license in 1971. He worked for various contractors in industrial construction until 1985 when he went to work at the GE Quartz Plant as a maintenance technician. The company later became Momentive Materials, from which he retired in August of 2008. Tom enjoyed playing softball and golfing with his IBEW teams, bird hunting, competitive shooting, motorcycles, watching golf, and watching the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was also a member of the NRA. He is survived by his wife Cornelia “Connie” (Van Oort) Rector; daughter, Michelle (Robb) Rexroad; special granddaughter, Riley; and step grandson, Reece of Westerville; brother, Tim (Sharon) Rector of Troy, OH; nieces, Amy and Christa; sister, Sue (Jim) Ward of Buckeye Lake, OH; nephew, Justin Ward; niece, Jennifer Reed; and many classmates, co-workers, and good friends. He will be missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Virginia (Floyd) Niswander; cousin, Richard Niswander; uncle, Melvin (Petie) Rector; and cousin, Fritz Rector.
