Timothy Edward Spitzer

November 14, 1958 — February 19, 2025

Timothy Edward Spitzer, 66, of Hebron, Ohio passed away suddenly on February 19, 2025.

Tim was born on November 14, 1958, in Urbana, Ohio, the son of Edward and Marilyn Sue Spitzer (Gaver).

Tim was a proud graduate of Mechanicsburg High School in 1977. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Education from Ohio University and then earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University .

Tim married Kathy Spitzer (Bheam) on May 28, 1982, in Coshocton, Ohio. Tim met Kathy in his first position as a production manager at Coshocton County MRDD and the two immediately hit it off. They were happily married for 42 years.

Tim devoted his career to serving individuals with disabilities. After working in Coshocton County, Tim served as the Adult Services Director for Muskingum County MRDD, the State of Ohio MRDD, and ultimately became the Director for the Mid-East Ohio Regional Resource Center, offering services to persons with disabilities throughout southern and eastern Ohio. As a result of his dedicated career, Tim received the Ohio Association of Developmental Disabilities Award in 2012 for Visionary Leadership in Administration.

A dedicated public servant, Tim worked tirelessly to support funding for the Lakewood Local School District. He proudly served as a member of the school board and would later serve as president of the school board.

Tim coached and mentored young men in the Lakewood community. For several years he coached little league baseball as a part of Lakewood Youth Baseball, winning the Licking County Shrine Club Tournament in 2014. Tim could always be counted on as a listening ear to any of his former players as they grew into young men.

Tim was an avid vegetable gardener. Whether it was homemade pickles, sauce, or salsa, Tim was eager to share his items with friends and family.

In his retirement, Tim often vacationed to Florida with Kathy. They spent many months at their favorite resort, Suntan Terrace, forming memories and friendships along the way.

Preceding Tim in death are daughter, Aryn Spitzer, and father, Edward Spitzer.

Remaining to cherish Tim’s memory are his loving wife, Kathy Spitzer (Bheam); son, Erik (Jenny) Spitzer; mother, Marilyn Sue Spitzer (Gaver); sister, Amy (Randy) Dingledine; several other nieces, nephews, relatives, and good friends; and his loving pets Bella and Bear.

Tim will be sorely missed but his legacy will continue through his impact on the community and relationships fostered throughout his life.
