Wiltrud Elizabeth “Trudy” Uhazy, age 83, of Thornville, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at her home. Trudy was born October 8, 1938 in Pirmasens, Germany, to the late Ludwig and Magdalena (Wiehn) Kuntz. She came to the United States in 1965 and was a homemaker for many years.
After waitressing at The Grove on U.S. 40 her drive and determination led her to become a successful small business owner, opening Gary and Trudy’s Gasthaus in Provident, Ohio. Trudy took pride in serving great homemade food and had lots of laughs and reminisced often of the loyal patrons and dear friends made over those years. Trudy lived in St. Clairsville, Ohio until 2018 when she went to live in Thornville with her daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Jarrod.
She is survived by her children, Suzie (Steve) Lucas of Bethesda, Gary M. (Shawna) Uhazy of Sunbury, and Heidi (Jarrod) Robinson of Thornville; grandchildren, Kate Lucas of Bethesda, Camden Uhazy of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Zachary Uhazy of Columbus.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary G. Uhazy on July 9, 2013; and by three sisters and one brother.
